I talked with Stephan Spencer of the Get Optimized podcast about the way we handle awkwardness in conversation and our fears about the way people will perceive us if they know our flaws. Often times we’re tempted to ignore the elephant in the room, the big things that might be awkward to deal with. We talk about doing the opposite of that, as well as:
- Addressing the mouse in the room
- Becoming aware of your own internal experience, so you then have a choice to share that with someone else
- “He lays down so fast she can’t hit him”
- Hiding in plain sight
- How sharing things you have shame around can help heal the shame
When you’ve watched the clip, let me know: what are some mice you’ve been ignoring with your loved ones? I’d love to hear it.
