Too often parents and guardians make the mistake of avoiding having a difficult or awkward conversation with their kid or teen because the subject matter is uncomfortable.
Now I’m NOT a parent. But I was a kid.
I’m not a parenting expert….I’m a communications expert, with strong views on communicating with humans, including the little ones.
In this clip from the Empowered Relationships podcast episode, I cover:
- Why we avoid tough conversations with our kids
- The amazing opportunities missed we we avoid those conversations
- How to open the conversation with your child
- How to welcome the Tough Conversations
- A juicy topic one parent avoided out of fear
- How coaching can make the conversation so much easier!
- How “hiding fighting” hurts our kids, and how to be more transparent about anger
I think it’s imperative we model the type of behavior we want to see in our kids. Let me know if you agree – or disagree! – in the comments below.
